by We are in the second week of October 2025, the week when the visa bulletin is supposed to be published. We expect Visa bulletin to be published during the course of the coming week, especially either on Monday or Tuesday.
As we await the publication of the visa bulletin, today I will be sharing the answer to one important question that many people have been asking, in addition to that I will also be sharing with you a number of points that you have to be aware of, as DV-2026 applicants.
Some people have been asking whether it is possible for the cut of numbers in the upcoming visa bulletin to be entirely repeated, as we saw during the month of September and the answer to that is yes, it is possible, although I do not foresee that happening in the upcoming visa bulletin.
There are total of three scenarios, one of which plays out when the visa bulletin is published. The repeat of all of the cut-off numbers, that’s the first scenario and that happens when there are so many cases that are eligible for interview, i.e so many case numbers are current for interview but the embassies cannot interview most of them, so in such a case, the cut-off numbers are maintained. So that during the following month, those that were not interviewed during the month concerned will be interviewed.
The second scenario is that all of the cut-off numbers be increased. The third and final scenario is when you have some of the cut-off numbers increase whereas others are maintained. That’s the scenario that we see most of the time, so that’s the scenario that may play out when the upcoming visa bulletin is published.
The statistics for the DV-2026 program have not yet been released and because of that we cannot pinpoint the scenario that is going to play out based on the statistics.
Below is another thing you need to be aware of, as we await the publication of the visa bulletin. The first one is that the bulletin that is about to be published, will show the cut-off numbers that concern the month of December 2025.
We have already seen the cut-off numbers for this month the month of October. We have seen the cut-off numbers for the month of November, so what is about to be revealed will concern the month of December 2025.
Next Point: The fact that your case number becomes current or the fact that you are eligible for interview during a month does not mean that at all costs you will be interviewed during that month.
It is possible for you to be interviewed during that month but there are other reasons why you may not be interviewed during that month. More explanation as we proceed.
The progress in the visa bulletin is a gradual process. Let’s take an example having the Africa region at 15,000 it means that when the next visa bulletin is published, the cut-off number for the Africa region could increase to 16,000, 17,000, or 18,000.
There are times when the region experiences what we refer to as a leap, that is from 15,000 it could go as far as 22,000, 24,000 but that doesn’t always happen but you cannot have the Africa region at 15,000 and then in the next visa bulletin you see that the Africa region has gone say 40,000 or 50,000. No, it’s a gradual process and so those who are concerned by the cut-off numbers in the upcoming visa bulletin are generally those whose case numbers are not far above the cut-off number that was shown for the region in the previous visa bulletin, that is how it works.
These are things that generally diversity visa applicants are not informed about but there are things that you have to be aware of because they are very important in the diversity visa program.
