The Visa Bulletin For May 2026 has just been published. In this post, we’ll go through the official DV-2026 diversity visa cut-off numbers that will apply in June 2026.
We’ll also highlight a very important development this month. Something that doesn’t happen often but is crucial for DV applicants to understand. If you want to know whether your case number is current, stay with me as we go through this update.
For the month of June 2026, here are the official cut-off numbers as published in the latest visa bulletin. Below are the regions or countries and there corresponding May 2026 cut-off numbers.
- The Africa region 55,000. Algeria 37,000. Egypt 30,000.
- The Asia region 35,000. Nepal 11,000.
- Europe 20,000.
- North America, that is, the Bahamas 50.
- Oceania 1,500.
- And South America and the Caribbean 3,000.
If your DV-2026 case number is below the number indicated for your region or country, then your case is current for June 2026 and may be scheduled sometime this month for a June interview. So this concerns case numbers are:
- Case numbers less than 55,000 from the Africa region.
- Case numbers less than 37,000 from Algeria.
- Case numbers less than 30,000 from Egypt.
- Case numbers less than 35,000 from Asia.
- Case numbers less than 11,000 from Nepal.
- Case numbers less than 20,000 from Europe.
- Case numbers less than 50 from the Bahamas.
- Case numbers less than 1,500 from Oceania.
- And case numbers less than 3,000 from South America and the Caribbean.
Here is the most important takeaway from this visa bulletin. All cut-off numbers for June 2026 are exactly the same as those for the previous month, i.e May 2026, excerpt Nepal. There hasn’t been any forward movement at all in any region or country.
Why cut-off numbers sometimes stay the same?
When diversity visa cut-off numbers do not advance from one month to the next, it usually indicates that the Department of State is pausing movement to better manage visa, number allocation. This can happen if there is a backlog of cases waiting for interview scheduling.
In other words, a high number of cases have already become current in previous months. And so at the moment, there is no need of making more cases current. Whenever the need arises to make new cases current, the cut-off numbers will then resume their forward movement.
In simple terms this is a control mechanism, not a problem. If your case number is already below the May cut-off of your region or country, then you remain current for June as you are for May 2026. If your case number is exactly the same as or above your region or country’s cut-off, then you will need to wait until it goes below the cut-off in a future visa bulletin to become current.
With the June 2026 cut-off numbers, no new case numbers have become current this month. And therefore nothing changed for DV applicants, as far as becoming current is concerned.
If you are current, make sure you filled out your DS-260 form and submit. Monitor your email and stay alert. Make sure your documents are prepared for interview. If you are not yet current, simply continue tracking the visa bulletin. Movement will resume anytime soon in an upcoming visa bulletin. I wish you the very best as we look forward to movements happening sometime soon.
