by Geoplex Drillteq Limited are seeking an experienced Driller to oversee and execute safe, efficient, and precise drilling operations. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in modern drilling techniques, rig operations, and crew leadership, ensuring compliance with safety standards and operational excellence on well sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute the drilling program as instructed by engineers and geologists, achieving target depths and formations.
- Operate and maintain drilling equipment, including rigs, pumps, and hydraulic systems.
- Supervise and mentor the drilling crew (roughnecks, derrickmen, motormen) to ensure tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
- Monitor drilling parameters (torque, weight on bit, mud flow, pressure levels) to optimise performance.
- Lead directional drilling activities using advanced tools such as MWD (Measurement While Drilling) and LWD (Logging While Drilling).
- Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot mechanical or procedural issues.
- Enforce strict compliance with well control, blowout prevention, and HSE protocols.
- Conduct rig inspections and ensure equipment integrity.
- Maintain accurate drilling logs, daily reports (IADC DDR), and incident documentation.
- Communicate effectively with the toolpusher on drilling progress, challenges, and equipment needs.
- Respond promptly to emergencies, ensuring crew safety and operational continuity.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- HND/B.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering, Geology, or related discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years’ drilling experience in oil & gas operations.
- Valid IWCF Level 4 Well Control Certification (mandatory).
- Proven proficiency in drilling techniques: rotary, auger, and core drilling.
- Experience in drill string design, rig equipment handling, and hydraulic systems.
- Strong crew management, task delegation, and mentoring skills.
- Excellent understanding of safety protocols, HSE compliance, and emergency procedures.
