Applications are now open for the 2026 University of Glasgow African Excellence Scholarship, offering full tuition coverage for postgraduate students from Africa to study in UK.

About The University of Glasgow African Excellence Masters Scholarship:

The University of Glasgow African Excellence Award aims to support high-achieving students from across Africa in their journey to become Future World Changers.  They are looking for students who wish to undertake Masters level study, to further develop their knowledge and skills, in order to positively contribute to their community in the future.

The University is offering up to 15 scholarships for International students from Africa, starting a 1 year postgraduate taught Masters program, in any discipline for academic session 2026/27.  The scholarship is a full tuition fee waiver.

Who can Apply for the University of Glasgow African Excellence Masters Scholarship?

Also, to be eligible, applicants must:

  • Demonstrate academic excellence and achieve grades equivalent to a UK 1st Class Honours;
  • Hold an offer of a place for a postgraduate taught one-year Masters program for the September 2026 intake (an offer is not needed to apply but applicants will require an offer to be considered for an interview and should take programme application timelines into consideration as detailed on program webpages);
  • Have International fee status;
  • Be domiciled in Africa and hold a passport from one of the eligible countries;
  • Be able to demonstrate a clear career and/or development plan that will be supported by Masters level study (via application form);
  • Be able to provide evidence of meeting the UKVI maintenance/living costs by 30th June 2026 (only required if offered scholarship following successful interview).

How are Applicants Selected?

Applicants will be shortlisted based on their academic excellence and the alignment of their career/development plan with the program of study. A successful interview will be part of the final selection process.

  • West Africa: Nigeria, Ghana, Togo, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Senegal, Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Benin, Gambia
  • East Africa: Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Malawi, Sudan, Eritrea
  • Southern Africa: South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana, Eswatini, Namibia, Lesotho, Angola, Mozambique, Mauritius
  • Central Africa: Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Congo Democratic Republic of, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Sao Tome and Principe
  • Northern Africa: Egypt, Libya, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia
