About The Award:
The East Tennessee State University (ETSU) International Merit Scholarship provides financial support of up to $36,000 over four years to high-achieving international students pursuing undergraduate or graduate studies. It is a merit-based scholarship automatically awarded upon admission.

All undergraduate and graduate programs offered at ETSU (excluding M.D. and Pharm.D. programs).

International students who:
- Apply to a full-time degree program at ETSU (UG or PG)
- Have or plan to obtain an F-1 or J-1 student visa
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 from previous studies
- Are newly admitted to ETSU (not returning or second-degree students)
How are Applicants Selected?
Automatically based on GPA at time of admission:
- Undergraduate Scholarships:
- Blue: $5,000/year for GPA ≥ 3.0
- Gold: $7,000/year for GPA ≥ 3.5
- Elite: $9,000/year for GPA ≥ 3.75
- Graduate Scholarships:
- Master’s: $5,000/year for GPA ≥ 3.0
- Doctoral: $9,000/year for GPA ≥ 3.0
Applicants must maintain required GPAs to keep the scholarship.
