According to directives issued to travel agents on Tuesday, Nigerians between the ages of 18 and 45 will no longer be eligible for a tourist visa unless they are accompanied. The decision marks a significant shift likely to impact travel from Nigeria to Dubai, a popular destination for both business and tourism.

This new development comes less than a year after the UAE lifted a two-year visa ban on Nigerians, a move that was initially welcomed but came with strict conditions that already limited travel access.

According to the updated guidelines from Dubai immigration, older applicants must now submit a six-month personal bank statement showing a consistent monthly end balance of at least $10,000 or its equivalent in naira. Other documents such as hotel bookings and passport data pages are still required.

Are they trying to introduce changes that are expected to significantly reduce Nigerian travel to the UAE?
